Serving Illinois since 1867, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is one of the largest statewide social service providers. LSSI is a nonprofit social service organization of the three Illinois synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois provides supportive services for children in need and their families. Foster care services focus on placing children who have experienced neglect or abuse in a loving and secure home. Children’s Community Services offers numerous other services to at-risk children and their families in their communities.

LSSI serves over 42,000 people annually, providing critical programs for Illinois residents each year, including foster care, mental health services, alcohol and drug treatment, affordable senior housing, residential programs for people with developmental disabilities, home care for seniors, and services that help families who have been impacted by incarceration.
LSSI is a not-for-profit social services agency serving people of all faiths and all walks of life, including children, families and adults.

Requirements to become a foster parent
You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Illinois. To become a foster parent, you must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Attend foster parent orientation
- Pass a background check
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete the Home Study
- Provide at least three references
- Clear a physical exam
- Maintain financial stability
Foster families must be able to provide a safe and comfortable home for a child. You must provide room for the child to have a bed and enough space for personal belongings.
Foster parents do not need to be married or have a partner. However, if married, couples must show a stable marriage of at least one year before they can foster a child in Illinois.
Foster parents need to meet a child's basic care needs, such as providing meals and clothing. Foster families must also support a foster child's education and assist them in developing social skills.

My stepdaughter said some things about me touching her children then admitted that it was all a lie to break me and her mother up.Dcfs did a complete investigation and found it to be unfounded even before she admitted it was a lie.Dcfs is out of it now but its been a year now and Lutheran is still forcing my wife to keep a restraining order on me she has custody of the children cuz the mother is unfit they made my wife move out of the only stable house the children had but yet allowed her to move less then 2 blocks away the other stepdaughter and her 4 children still live with me which should show them something right now I'm under a 2 year order of protection they have made my wife move out of her home made her change jobs forced her to have a affair with a man that used to date the children's mother which should show them something plus all the money that has been spent on all this I'm almost 50 years old and have never been in any kind of trouble at all but know with this I'm alone all the time cuz the woman that I love can't b with me and we can't even speak to each other to decide if we want to stay married or not I need to find a better job since I'm supporting a house alone but no one will hire me with a order of protection.The last time we was in front of the judge he even stated after he heard the wife's side where she kept saying that Lutheran will remove the children if she didn't have the order he stated that this was a waste of the States money and I have spent so much already on a attorney I can't keep doing it and they know It.I think that Lutheran needs to have a complete overhaul cuz if this is happening to me who else is it happening to.Mark Hardwick
