Our Foster Care program provides boys and girls ages 4–17 with emotional or behavioral difficulties an opportunity to live within the community in the naturally therapeutic environment of a family. Our foster parents are trained, supervised, and supported by the Laurel Heights Specialized Foster Care Treatment Team.
Family consultants work with the foster family, birth parents, case managers, and the child to ensure that therapeutic, academic, social, and medical needs are met. Family consultants also provide 24-hour on-call support and work closely with case managers and birth families to support family reunification goals.

The DHS assists foster families with placement and ensures the child adjusts well to their new environment. My grandson was Admitted last Wednesday an knowone has contact me about anything .I keep calling checking up on him but they really don’t answer the phone .An when my grandson does call me he is crying an I ask him if they are be Mean to him .But I can tell when I talk to him there is someone in the room.Telling him what to say .But tomorrow I will be going picking up my grandson.I don’t care what they say. He has been gone now almost one week.

My child came back with an extreme case of lice. I called to let them know and they seemed to not be worried about it. My child reported bugs inside the rooms and the beds there were half broken she said. My child passed out and there was no phone call made either and I was not aware of until she returned.

There is no communication. We were placed on hold several times since early afternoon just to be told that now at 8:30 our child was asleep and that the one phone call a day is not always provided. We had been told upon admission that our child would call everyday and had a ten min time limit. Since it did not happen we were concerned and instead of calming our worries what they said and acted made us worry more! He had told us a day before how he missed us and the nurse we finally spoke to ( I believe her name was Daphne) said he didn’t want to talk to us so therefore we didn’t get the phone call. Very concerning that we couldn’t even reach the unit on the phone and the front desk left us waiting for 20 min on the line because she claimed couldn’t reach the unit either. Rude and not professional nurse hung up on me as I explained why we had been upset about the situation. Our experience with this place is awful and discharge cannot come early enough.
