Florida's adoption initiative aimed at promoting the benefits of public adoption. Explore Adoption urges families to consider creating or expanding their families by adopting a child who is older, has special needs, or is a part of a sibling group. Through public education, expanded partnerships, and social media, Explore Adoption invites Floridians to learn more about the children immediately available for adoption in their home state and community.

Adoption provides unique opportunities to change children's lives and enrich the life of the adoptive parent or family that welcomes them in. Adopting one of Florida's children from foster care offers many special benefits.

Requirements to become a foster parent

Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Prove good health and ability to care for a child
  • Maintain a stable income
  • Pass a background screening
  • Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
  • Complete a Home Study

The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Worst system ever my son lives with he’s father. I filed 2 or maybe 3 complaints about illegal activity nothing was done each time case was closed because he had a nice house and food in the fridge. Today Exactly a little more than 3 months my son is missing along with he’s father in Mexico where he’s just spent he’s birthday missing and all of us devastated. Not even the police helped. When called to complain the worker response was if I had already called the fbi or what did I expect her to do! Worse system ever

I never and I mean never have written a review for anything but I feel that I must share with others just so they are aware. If I could Thegive them zero stars I would. lack of communication, poor customer service, extensive wait times and their ability to communicate with one another is truly sad. I know they have lots of cases they deal with on a daily but that is no excuse for them not to be up to par about doing their job. They really need to get it together just because people needs assistance from the government doesn't make us any less human than they are some of us work hard and can't afford insurance or our jobs just doesn't offer it . Some just need it temporarily. I have never experienced anything like this as far as customer service goes in my life they suck and alot of them need to quit or be fired.
