Requirements to become a foster parent
You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Colorado. Foster parents for children and families must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Maintain sufficient income to support a family
- Have physical and mental capability to care for children and youth
- Pass a child abuse background and criminal background check
- Work with a treatment team and undergo future training
- Complete a Home Study
Prospective foster families can contact a Colorado child placement agency or your local Department of Human Services. Social workers in these child welfare agencies will provide information about Colorado's child welfare system, foster care, and the adoption process.
Social workers recommended that other adults and children in your home agree to provide long-term home care, too. If everyone is ready to welcome a new child, your local agency will help your home become an approved foster home.

Im very impressed with the school and the teacher’s they put in 110% to help the kids I didn’t feel comfortable at first but they put my worries to rest quickly. Good Job! Our son has made huge strides since starting there in October. Even while being on remote learning his team has contacted him everyday even adjusted to make it easier all around.
We’re moving just wanted to say MSV has been a blessing for our family the staff there are amazing I think back in my life I had a teacher who showed me he cared and was able to help me and I see my son can say he had a school full of teachers who cared for him I’m sure he will remember all of them cause they were there for him sorry this is sounding corny but if you are thinking of sending your child to MSV rest assured the school is hard to beat. Thank you to clear creek county for pointing us in that direction.

Miss AmberLynn and Miss Rosemary have been nothing short of amazing when it comes to my son and his inhome therapy. We are very lucky to have them and all their support. They are always there to offer support not only when it comes to his therapy. But when we need a little extra help finding resources in order to help him in his road to getting better . I will always be grateful for these 2 wonderful ladies!! 5 stars does not do them justice!

We are new foster parents and we cannot recommend MSV enough. The Foster Care system can be a challenge to navigate, not only are you caring for a child/children but you also have the responsibilities of communicating with case workers, the GAL, birth parents, filling out forms, doctor visits and more. MSV helps you with all of that.
We also feel like we are part of a bigger community that shares resources, experiences and supports each other. If you are looking at fostering we strongly suggest giving them a call.

Mount St. Vincent home has a soft spot in my heart. I realized the other day when I was driving up there to make another donation that I have been working with this organization for over 35 years.
This establishment was originally started as an orphanage in 1883 by the Sisters of Charity. They really do help children in need, a safe place for them before they’re adopted or just need a home. Some of the youth live there full-time. They reach out to help because of neglect, abuse, emotional and behavioral challenges, mental illness and abuse.
This incredible place is for foster care and treatment programs for children. They are always looking for volunteers for various things on their 16 acre campus.
I WOULD recommend this facility if you have any free time to volunteer or considering donating. Go online and look at their wish list.
