Requirements to become a foster parent
You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Colorado. Foster parents for children and families must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Maintain sufficient income to support a family
- Have physical and mental capability to care for children and youth
- Pass a child abuse background and criminal background check
- Work with a treatment team and undergo future training
- Complete a Home Study
Prospective foster families can contact a Colorado child placement agency or your local Department of Human Services. Social workers in these child welfare agencies will provide information about Colorado's child welfare system, foster care, and the adoption process.
Social workers recommended that other adults and children in your home agree to provide long-term home care, too. If everyone is ready to welcome a new child, your local agency will help your home become an approved foster home.

I'm a pervious child of this place!...and they always did the best they could and always treated us with the love they were allowed to give!! I was baptized in that church and it was my home when no one else cared or wanted me!!! All these ladies and gentleman give time away from their life to show a bunch of kids that they care about them and are worth love and that we matter!!!!❤❤❤ im so grateful of everything I was given by them!!!!

Horrible experience. Parents and guardians beware. Mount Saint Vincent will align with the child and make you the bad guy. They allow all children in their care to decline phone calls from parents and therapy with parents, even in person visits from parents, enabling children who have control issues from trauma to have all the control. Mount Saint Vincent gladly took our money and addressed none of the issues we enrolled our child there for. We trusted them and feel very betrayed. They even coached our child prior to discharge, to refuse discharge to us. Absolutely the worst place to put your child. This school has 5 children currently in their care, when normally they should have 32. I think that speaks volumes.
