Family Resource Network and Kaleidoscope Counseling was founded in 1985, moving into El Paso County in 1992. Kids Resource Network changed their name to Family Resource Network, to honor the focus and dedication to the families for which we work with in the community. In 2001, Kids Resource Network broke into two separate offices making Kids Resource Network of Colorado Springs its own Child Placement Agency. Since the beginning it has been our goal to grow gradually and to focus on a solid and stable program. Our outstanding resources are proof of that. Kids Resource Network of Colorado Springs is the exception!

We work with children and families from diverse backgrounds, many having unique needs. We work with children from ages 0-18 and sometimes help young adults up to the age of 21 should there be special circumstances. Family Resource Network and Kaleidoscope Counseling works to reunify children in a safe and stable family environment.

Requirements to become a foster parent

You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Colorado. Foster parents for children and families must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Maintain sufficient income to support a family
  • Have physical and mental capability to care for children and youth
  • Pass a child abuse background and criminal background check
  • Work with a treatment team and undergo future training
  • Complete a Home Study

Prospective foster families can contact a Colorado child placement agency or your local Department of Human Services. Social workers in these child welfare agencies will provide information about Colorado's child welfare system, foster care, and the adoption process.

Social workers recommended that other adults and children in your home agree to provide long-term home care, too. If everyone is ready to welcome a new child, your local agency will help your home become an approved foster home.

I recommend you look elsewhere for this type of care. My insurance company referred me to this office because they provide the services I was looking for and they were listed as accepting new patients. When I contacted the office, one of the staff informed me that they are not accepting new patients, and they do not accept my insurance. When I asked why they are listed on my insurance company's website, the staff member told me the office is not responsible for anything my insurance company tells me.
