Requirements to become a foster parent
You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Colorado. Foster parents for children and families must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Maintain sufficient income to support a family
- Have physical and mental capability to care for children and youth
- Pass a child abuse background and criminal background check
- Work with a treatment team and undergo future training
- Complete a Home Study
Prospective foster families can contact a Colorado child placement agency or your local Department of Human Services. Social workers in these child welfare agencies will provide information about Colorado's child welfare system, foster care, and the adoption process.
Social workers recommended that other adults and children in your home agree to provide long-term home care, too. If everyone is ready to welcome a new child, your local agency will help your home become an approved foster home.

CCS cares deeply for both the birth family and the adoptive family. They have been very upfront with us regarding the adoption process. We have adopted through CCS in 2013 and we are awaiting our 2nd placement. Their adoption costs are kept low through fundraising and make adoption a much more affordable option. The care they give birth moms is unparalleled. They continue long past placement, and give great care to those who choose to parent also. I trust them with my family's future. My only wish is that we could duplicate them and replace each agency with them. They are amazing!

CCS helped us adopt our daughter who is now 3 years old. In addition we have a biological daughter, but due to medical complications were no longer able to conceive on our own. After meeting with CCS we knew we found the agency that shared our beliefs and had an unwavering desire and faith that we would be able to expand our family thru adoption. We consider CCS part of our family and are forever grateful for their dedication, support, encouragement, guidance and friendship in helping us adopt our beautiful daughter.
Their team is very dedicated in ensuring all parties are fully aware of all the process and do an outstanding job at counseling both birth parents and adoptive families. They made us feel comfortable from the moment we meet and provided a level of support and love we never imagined could be received. CCS and our daughters birth parents helped complete our family and for that there is no words that can truly express our gratitude for the blessing we received.

My wife and I began trying for a baby shortly after getting married in 1997. 15 years later we had been unable to get pregnant. Through a family friend, we met our wonderful Birth Mother and began the search for an adoption agency.
From the first phone call to Colorado Christian Services we felt at home. The staff is warm, caring and sincere. There were doubts, fears and many questions along the way and we felt so fortunate to have their guidance and wisdom throughout the adoption process.
Our little girl is now a toddler and we are blessed every day to be her mommy and daddy!
God has led us throughout our journey to become parents and we have no doubt that he led us to CCS as well. The entire staff was such a blessing to our family and we are forever grateful for and appreciative of them.

Six years ago my husband and I were told we would most likely not be able to conceive naturally. We knew without a second thought we wouldn't spend any more time pursuing fertility treatments; we wanted to adopt. Our research led us to Colorado Christian Services and it was here that we found warm, caring people with a knowledge of the adoption process and legal jargon that instantly made us feel assured and comfortable. To say that CCS goes the extra mile is an understatement. They not only guided us through each step but they cared about us as people. Our case worker even brought us coats when we came to Colorado unprepared for the snow and frigid temperatures!
The processes CCS has in place to create perfect matches between adoptive families and birth parents is amazing. We felt instantly connected to our birthmom after meeting for just five minutes. We have so much love, appreciation and connection with her and treasure our open relationship. Not a day goes by that we don't thank God for our two beautiful girls brought to us through adoption and for CCS who guided us through the process.

CCS is more then a adoption agency, they are more like family! I still remember our first phone call to them and how comforting and encouraging they were in a time we felt hopeless!!! They are awesome and walk you through every step of the process. All though they have been doing this for years they still care and get excited and cry right a long with you!!!! Please consider CCS for Colorado Gives Day!
