Since our beginning in the early 1990s, International Family Services (IFS) has helped nearly 5000 orphaned children find forever homes. IFS is a respected leader in the world of domestic and international adoption and we understand the unique needs of orphan children, and their cry for a chance in life where they can know peace, security, and love free from injustice and oppression.

IFS is a licensed child-placing agency in Texas, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. In coordination with licensed child-placing agencies, we can also place children into families residing in all 50 States and US citizens living abroad. We are committed to bridging the gap between the orphan child in need of a mother and father, and prospective parents who can provide a home where children can live a life that includes family.

Requirements to become a foster parent

There are myths and misconceptions about what you need to qualify as a foster parent.

Foster parent requirements vary by state. Parents must be at least 21 years of age in Arkansas. However, there cannot be more than a 45-year age difference between the child and the parent.

Marriage is not a requirement for fostering. Single individuals may apply.

Every foster parent in Arkansas must:

  • Pass a background check
  • Have a physical exam
  • Complete the Arkansas Home Study
  • Complete required training classes
  • Pass the home inspection
  • Attend face-to-face interviews with a state foster advocate
  • Maintain financial stability

In addition, foster homes must have enough room for the foster child. This includes 50 square feet of bedroom space for personal belongings.

Reach out to an Arkansas child-placing representative for additional information.

Nobody knows anything or can update you on what is going on with your case. I have brought 3 families out here to see why they haven't received their snap benefits in months. The answer is always because we moved locations and it messed up the system and we don't have enough workers. This morning I seen plenty workers just standing around conversing with each other. Have been in there a a worker putting make up on at her desk while people were waiting.
