An anonymous source once said, "There are no unwanted children, just unfound families." Project Zero agrees! And we are passionate about finding them.

Did you know that out of the over 400,000 children and teens in foster care in the United States, over 100,000 of them are waiting to be adopted? One hundred thousand children and teens whose parental rights have been terminated and who are languishing in foster care, waiting, hoping, praying, and longing for a forever family. Project Zero believes every waiting child deserves a place to call home, and we are committed to thinking outside the box to make that dream a reality.

Our Mission

The mission of Project Zero is to diligently and enthusiastically promote adoption through the foster care system with the ultimate goal of finding a forever family for every child who is waiting.

Requirements to become a foster parent

There are myths and misconceptions about what you need to qualify as a foster parent.

Foster parent requirements vary by state. Parents must be at least 21 years of age in Arkansas. However, there cannot be more than a 45-year age difference between the child and the parent.

Marriage is not a requirement for fostering. Single individuals may apply.

Every foster parent in Arkansas must:

  • Pass a background check
  • Have a physical exam
  • Complete the Arkansas Home Study
  • Complete required training classes
  • Pass the home inspection
  • Attend face-to-face interviews with a state foster advocate
  • Maintain financial stability

In addition, foster homes must have enough room for the foster child. This includes 50 square feet of bedroom space for personal belongings.

Reach out to an Arkansas child-placing representative for additional information.

Don't really like this DHS because I have been waiting almost a month now just to be approved for Food stamps. The only thing they can tell me or keep telling me is my worker has turned my information in for review after being told I was denied. I kept calling to check on status still same thing it's being reviewed, they won't transfer you over to your case worker nor will they give you they're ext#. Was told they don't give the ext#'s out.. And then when I finally did talk to my case worker I was told since I applied for food stamps just a few days after being fired from my job is the reason my application is in review and in the meantime I can check around at they're food banks😞... Just sad sad sad 😔

DHS has always been talked about as some of the most stuck up and unfriendliest people you can find in a workplace they act as though they are taken the help they give you out of their own hip Pocket and they look down their noses at you as if you are some kind of disease way before covid-19 affected anything now the ladies at the desk are even worse. Although they was not very friendly and they acted like they didn't want to speak to me at all when I was in there they did direct me to get to the right paperwork and get it filled out although if they would have done what I asked are they would have asked the caseworker they would have saved me a lot of hassle and headache but my caseworker and even the one before that have been some of the nicest people I've encountered in a workplace in a while not only nice but they seemed to go the distance plus some in their efforts to help me fill out my application and try to get some benefits started to all the ladies who work there even those who act offended by people coming in to speak to y'all I've got to Believe that there's somebody out there you're nice to when they come in at least one and for that one person we all thank you y'all are great for being there and helping those of us who need help may God send blessings to you all for what you do and for who you are as always May everyone stay safe and lots of love to you
