At any given time, there are approximately 7,000 children in foster care in Wisconsin who deserve safety and nurturing in a family setting. Foster parents provide a temporary home for children until they can be safely reunited with their biological family or reach another form of permanency, such as adoption or guardianship. As the state's largest provider of foster care programming, Children's Wisconsin offers high levels of support to foster and adoptive families. By opening your home to a child in your community, you become part of the story.

Foster parents may be licensed in one of the four foster care programs – General Foster Care, Treatment Foster Care, General Foster Care/Adoption, or Respite Foster Care (programs vary according to region). Click on the boxes below to learn more about each licensing option. If you have any questions or want to learn more, please fill out the information request form at the "Contact Us" link to the right. I appreciate your consideration of children and families in Wisconsin!

Your local foster and adoption agency is always there for you as well. They should be your first choice when contacting someone with questions or concerns.

The foster department will waste your time. They waited all the way until I was almost licensed to tell me I can’t proceeded with fostering because they thought they could convince me to switch my shift. I work 2nd shift and had every time in place for the child but told me no because of my shift and think they could make me go to 1st shift. It’s about helping a child in need not what shift I work. Just stopped a child from getting a home.

Therapist was always late, the last appointment the therapist didn’t show up at all, we waiting for 20minutes then asked where the Thera was to get no answer and rude responses. The care and compassion of the staff is non existent. Never would I recommend any therapist at children’s.
