Small World, Inc.
Small World, as a Christian ministry, exists to support parents through the difficult decision of parenting or placing their child for adoption and to preserve and protect the lives, born and unborn, of orphaned, abandoned and unwanted children, by looking after them, and ultimately restoring them as sons and daughters in loving Christian families.
Small World Adoption Agency was founded by Jim and Jean Savley.
Small World continues to rescue orphans in institutions around the world and place them for adoption in Christian families. We look forward to talking with you and helping to shape the future of a child in need.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Foster parents receive help from the Department of Children’s Services, including board rate payments to help offset the cost of care. These rates vary slightly based on the child's age and needs.
Children and teens in foster care also receive state health insurance through SelectKids. The parent helpline is 1-888-422-2963, and there's an online portal for parents.
Kids in care receive a membership ID card, which the DCS Health Advocate Representative has. Each child is also assigned a PCP. Physical and mental health care needs, as well as dental and vision services, are covered.
When you start fostering in Tennessee, you'll receive access to a dedicated Foster Parent Advocate who can answer questions, provide support, and assist you with any grievances and appeals.
Parents must also complete trauma-informed training, which teaches them how to be better caregivers. The training is free, and your agency can help you find and complete the necessary hours. You'll learn most of what you need to know in training, though you'll also want a solid support network.
Foster parents receive access to respite care, which can provide a break when needed. While most parents can leave their children with a babysitter or family member, foster parents must rely on trained, licensed caregivers. Depending on respite care allows parents to address emergencies, relieve stress, etc.

The one thing that mattered most to me when choosing an agency was knowing that it would be an ethical one. With all the challenges of international adoption, I needed to be able to trust that my agency was ethical in all of its dealings - particularly in other countries where I didn't know the system and wouldn't see what was happening. That's why I went with Small World all three times. I knew (and they proved every time) to be an agency where I could trust and have confidence in every single detail and every single person I worked with, here and abroad.

When we first looked for an agency to work with, we could not find an agency that would work with our "unique" international case. We are an international family living overseas. Until one night, late at night, when one of those dang google stocking adds popped up on my browser and there we found Small World! We can not express how incredible this agency is. When everyone else said "it won't work" they said "let's try." When everyone else said "no," they said, "why not?" They have fought and believed in and with us since day one through the complexity of our adoption. From Germany to the US to Madagascar to China, they never stopped believing we would bring a child home. They have always made it about fighting for a home for a child and never about the bureaucracy and politics of international law- but thank God they helped us deal with that! They helped us through all 4 languages: English, German, French, and Chinese. Did 4 walkthroughs with us (yes even flying over from the US to Germany.) Celebrated our family's diversity instead of being frustrated by the extra work it brought for them. And were our biggest advocates. If you are expats, an international family, or even a US family wanting to adopt internationally or domestically, we could not recommend a better agency to walk alongside your family than the Small World Adoption Family.

Small World Adoption has the most loving, compassionate, Christian staff you could ever ask for. We recently did a Reverse Mission Trip with this organization and it was absolutely life-changing for the orphans from China, the host families, and the community. We are now in the process of adoption and they are seamlessly guiding us through every step. My family is forever grateful for the new friendships formed, and most importantly for the adorable four-year-old we will be bringing home soon!

They are the most wonderful people to deal with. All of the staff makes you feel like family. They are encouraging every time we talk or have interactions. Small World is a blessing beyond words and measure.
