Catholic Charities
In 1912, the groundwork for Catholic Charities was laid with the founding of St. Joseph’s Orphanage. In the following years, other institutions were opened to serve children, families, and other people in need. Among these were a boardinghouse for young working women, a maternity home, and St. Ann’s Home for the Elderly.
In 1927, Catholic Charities expanded its services to include adoption, foster care, and pregnancy counseling. Its mission was to make Christ’s love for all human beings a visible and living reality for those in need.
Are you considering adoption as a way to start a family? Catholic Charities is a licensed child-placing agency serving the state of Oklahoma. Children placed for adoption are infants placed in our custody by birth parents who have made an adoption plan for their baby. We provide our adoption services regardless of ethnicity or religious preference.

Requirements to become a foster parent
The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) provides foster care support, such as connecting parents to hotlines and listing information about the licensure process. Besides the State Department of Human Resources, many private agencies in Oklahoma are dedicated to helping foster children and the parents that care for them.
The Oklahoma Family Network (OFN) helps children with special healthcare needs. OFN can connect parents with appropriate resources and training. Their Resource Directory lists organizations and professionals by topics, such as food assistance or disability services, so you can easily find help in your area.
The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) is part of the Children’s Health Act. You can learn more about child trauma and trauma-informed care. There are also informational materials and training available through the NCTSN.
Additionally, private adoption agencies offer programs and support for any parent interested in fostering to adopt.

I have never used charity agencies before. Was referred by another agency to this place. My step son who is 30 years old and autistic needs to get back to California with his father who has cancer and is going to go through a lot of surgeries in the next few months. I tried to get airline travel for us(me my wife and son) because my step son cannot travel alone. Was referred to another agency by this charity only to be told they help only if stranded in Oklahoma only then they pay 15% of a bus fare for one person. Then I called these people back only to be turned down. Is this how charities treat special needs citizens? You call yourself Christians? May god have mercy on your souls. Hope you one day find yourselves in desperation and need only to be turned down.
