Foster Parent Training

To become a foster parent in New Jersey, you are required to attend PRIDE training. There are three major components to the training including pre-service training, core training, and advanced and specialized training. Within the three components, you will learn skills in five essential competency categories:

  4. Making safe and nurturing family connections that will last a lifetime
  5. Working as a member of a professional team

All licensed foster parents will also have access to many additional workshops, both in-person and online. This may be through e-Learning, webinars, home correspondence courses, or support groups and meetings.

I was afraid that I was pregnant but too scared to find out for sure so I never went to the doctor. A few months later I went to the hospital because my stomach hurt and delivered my baby boy a few hours later. I am too young to be a mom and was too scared to tell my family so the social worker at the hospital told me to think about adoption and gave me a list of adoption agencies. I called A Loving Choice and Christine came to talk to me at the hospital and explained everything to me and gave me time to think about everything. She even offered to help me tell my family about the baby so they could help me. I did not know that I was allowed to pick a family to adopt my baby and that they would let me meet them. I did meet them and they send me pictures of my baby and he is doing well. Christine gave me phone numbers of other girls like me and they told me about their adoptions and we keep in touch. I know I made the right decision and I am glad that A Loving Choice was there for me when I really needed help.

Update- thanks for the pics!

I would recommend A Loving Choice to any perspective adopting parents or Birth Parents. The staff was wonderful in helping not only my husband and I understand the process but they went above and beyond in helping our Birth Parents out. The staff was always 100% honest in telling me what was going on in our situation even when it was news that wasn't always easy to deliver, thats what I believe you want. In the end with all of their hard work and our Birth Parents trusting them we are the proud parents of a beautiful little boy! ! I would never go to another adoption agency as an adoptive parent as hard as the wait is they will find your match. As a Birth Parent I can't speak for but I belive they will always do their best for them . A Loving Choice is the best way to go in this journey that will change your life !!

My significant other and myself have been together for 9 years. We choose to not get married because we feel its not necessary for us. A Loving Choice will not work with us. They will however work with married couples, individuals who are single and same sex couples but NOT 2 people that are not legally married! I guess we couldn't possibly love a child as much as a married couple could.

A loving choice did our home study and we were matched with a birth mother within a year. They were there for us every step of the way and they handled everything professionally. We will go back to them when we are ready to adopt again.
