Cornerstones of Care
Thousands of children need loving, temporary homes. Unfortunately, the number of licensed foster homes has not kept pace with the number of children entering state care.
In honor of National Foster Care Month, Cornerstones of Care is excited to release four new videos that capture the essence of what you need to know to begin your journey as a foster parent. These professional videos feature the voices of our team members and current or former foster parents who share their insights about foster parenting and the positive difference it makes in the lives of youth in their care.
Our mission is the core of what we do. It honors our history, reflects our day-to-day, and focuses on the future. It leads us in designing and delivering programs that improve the lives of more than 15,000 children and families each year in Kansas, Missouri, and beyond.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Foster parents receive a maintenance payment to help cover some of the care costs of raising a child. The rate parents receive varies depending on the child's age and their special needs. Foster children also receive a clothing allowance, covering their medical needs.
The Missouri Department of Social Services website shows you the latest rates.
However, these maintenance payments aren't always enough. Everything from school supplies to toys can cut into that budget. Many businesses and organizations are stepping up to help cover the gaps and assist foster families.
Foster Together provides a walk-in shopping service for foster children free of charge. Kids can find new and like-new clothing, toys, car seats, and more.
Foster parents caring for younger children can look to Nurses for Newborns, which provides health assessments, screenings, education, and more support.
Another valuable resource is respite care, which gives foster parents a break when needed. Respite foster care is a temporary service offered by other trained foster families. It's also useful in the event of an emergency situation.

Horrible. This company only makes matters and children worse. They can't seem to keep their employees either. They do not work in the child's best interest. And lastly they are anything but supportive to families.

Why do they illegally plow snow across the street instead of plowing it onto their own multi-acre facility? This creates unsafe situations and shows no respect to neighbors.

I wish that I could say that I would recommend this organization. Unfortunately, my experiences have been skewed very much towards the negative side over the course of the last year.
To be clear, we were under court order to utilize their services for co-parenting sessions. In the beginning we originally had an awesome counselor that we ended up graduating from their program with. This part of the experience with the organization was great.
Out of the blue a few months later, I received a phone call saying that we needed to come back and to meet with another counselor as our original counselor had left their organization and they wanted to reevaluate us. I didn't understand why we were being called back for more sessions, but decided to go ahead and come in to meet with her. Neither of us cared for the new counselor and opted not to continue with future sessions. I got the impression at that time that they simply wanted to collect more money for sessions. Even though we had already gone through all of the independent and joint sessions that were required for us to graduate from their program.
Fast forward a few months and we found ourselves back in front of the judge and we were ordered to attend more sessions utilizing their services. At that time, we were assigned to a counselor, and over the next several months we had several communications with her trying to schedule a joint session. That communication chain deteriorated when she went to part time status unannounced, and eventually terminated her employment with this organization. We were never notified of her departure and only found out when I received an email reply back from Joel stating that she had left. Up to this point my emails had gone unanswered. In the email that I received from Joel, he offered several times that week for us to meet for a session, however I was unavailable that week due to work. I subsequently emailed Joe back multiple times with no response. It was only after I emailed the court clerk directly & cc'd Joe did he respond to the court clerk indicating that they had no availability to take on new clients or previous clients. I would highly encourage any one looking to utilize this organizations services to look elsewhere.
This is not how you take care of clients or customers. I would be more apt to recommend them had I not spent hundreds of dollars for their services only to now be left high and dry. A simple email notifying me directly that they had no availability for us would have sufficed. Unfortunately rather than reply to one of my numerous emails, hey opted to just ignore them until the court clerk emailed them directly.

I wish I could give them 0 stars.
