Helping people move to a better life through hope-filled care, services, and advocacy; calling all those of goodwill to join us.

By lifting people in need to the dignity of self-reliance, and encouraging others to help, our communities will become one human family.

To us, adoption means truly making the most loving and responsible decision for one’s baby, if parenting is not an option. It gives you hope. It is giving your child the life you dream of for them. For birth parents, it allows them to follow their dreams. For an adoptive couple, it is the chance to expand or create their forever family.

Requirements to become a foster parent

Foster parents receive a maintenance payment to help cover some of the care costs of raising a child. The rate parents receive varies depending on the child's age and their special needs. Foster children also receive a clothing allowance, covering their medical needs.

The Missouri Department of Social Services website shows you the latest rates.

However, these maintenance payments aren't always enough. Everything from school supplies to toys can cut into that budget. Many businesses and organizations are stepping up to help cover the gaps and assist foster families.

Foster Together provides a walk-in shopping service for foster children free of charge. Kids can find new and like-new clothing, toys, car seats, and more.

Foster parents caring for younger children can look to Nurses for Newborns, which provides health assessments, screenings, education, and more support.

Another valuable resource is respite care, which gives foster parents a break when needed. Respite foster care is a temporary service offered by other trained foster families. It's also useful in the event of an emergency situation.

Catholic Charities will help in many different ways if you are struggling. View the website of the one closest to your area because they all have similar but different services by location . They will ask for an picture ID and ask how many is in your household as well as the date of birth of each family member you add. They also have bread free daily. Let someone you know who needs assistance with food or the other services offered aboutnCatholic Charities, it is wonderful resource.

I Had horrible experience today going to the Catholic Charities office. I had an appointment, they did not explain we would be handling my business in front of others waiting in the lobby. So if you need help who cares about confidentiality! The ladies at the front desk were rude and insensitive to me letting them know I was not understanding the process and the paperwork. They dismissed me and my frustration several times as I advised them I was unclear as to what the process is and explain to me the info they needed. I left there feeling confused, frustrated and that I may need to look elsewhere for help. They definitely kept hounding me to complete a survey....before I completed anything...asking if I felt treated well and if I felt helped. All questions on that survey I entered "Strongly Disagree "!!!! Lucky for them I'm not a secret shopper. They get a low grade today. Definitely not what I expected from Catholic Charities!
