Bethany Christian Services
Being a foster parent is so much more than loving a child in your home. It’s also showing kindness to a family when they need it most.
It’s giving a child a safe place to land during a hard, scary time when they’re away from home. And it’s showing compassion to a parent who is likely overwhelmed, scared, and without a lot of support.
It’s helping a child stay connected to the only home they’ve ever known, in whatever way it’s safe to do so, and cheering on a family that’s living out a comeback story.
At Bethany, our heart beats for family. We want to see families strong, supported, and together. But we know there are times when families face challenges—and children need care.
That’s why we’re seeking foster parents who believe in families too.

Requirements to become a foster parent
There are many services on hand to support those who foster children in Mississippi. Let's take a look at what's available for caregivers:
Support Payments
In Mississippi, foster parents receive a daily board payment from the Division of Family and Children's Services (DFCS) to help pay for the foster child's board, clothing, and personal allowances. These payments vary and can be between $22.83 and $51.55, depending on the child's age, situation, and needs.
Foster children who have special needs that are not covered by their board payment or monthly allowance can receive up to $100 per month, as necessary. However, this is not a guaranteed monthly allowance and is only provided on a case-by-case basis.
Medical and Dental Coverage
Many children in foster care qualify for medical and dental Medicaid coverage.
The foster parents have the obligation to arrange and accompany the child to all medical and dental appointments. This ensures their overall health and wellness.
Training and Support Groups
Foster parents have access to extra training and support groups. These resources give a platform to foster parents and allow them to interact with others who have experience with the distinctive challenges fostering can pose.

SUTHERLANDS HAS ONE OF THE WORST POLICY THAT HAS EVER EXISTED.
SUTHERLANDS SELL MALFUNCTIONING EQUIPMENT AND REFUSES TO REFUND OR REPLACE. VERY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DOWNRIGHT DISGUSTING. SUTHERLANDS IS A RIPOFF WITH EQUIPMENT THAT RUNS ON GAS. SUTHERLANDS WILL NOT TELL YOU THAT THEY WILL NOT TAKE BACK NOR REPLACE THEIR EQUIPMENT THAT IS MADE OF VERY POOR QUALITY. I WOULD GIVE THEM LESS THAN A 1 STAR IF I COULD. SUTHERLANDS TOLD ME AFTER I HAD PURCHASED MY GAS WEEDEATER THAT THEY DON'T TAKE ANYTHING THAT RUNS ON GAS BACK. I WASN'T TOLD THIS BEFORE PURCHASING THE PIECE OF JUNK. LATER TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD FIX IT FOR $117.00 AND CHANGE. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT THE PULL STRING HAD GOTTEN OFF TRACK. I REFUSED TO PAY MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS MALFUNCTIONED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
THE SO CALLED REPAIRMAN TOLD ME THAT THE GEARS WERE TORN UP IN IT. IF THIS WAS THE CASE; HE DEFINITELY TORE THEM UP.
I AM FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY BUYING EQUIPMENT FROM SUTHERLANDS. I LEARNED MY LESSON TOOOO LATE!
