The Department of Children and Families (DCF) offers services to adoptive parents and their children to ensure that you have the support your family needs.Adoptive parents may be eligible for financial assistance depending on their adopted child’s special needs. Children are sometimes temporarily placed in foster care because their parents aren’t able to give them the care that they need. The Department of Children & Families (DCF) first tries to place children with relatives. When that’s not possible, they enter foster care. There are all kinds of foster parents. You can be single or married, own a home or rent one. There’s a need for foster parents across Massachusetts, from all diverse backgrounds. You should contact your DCF social worker to apply for an adoption subsidy before you’ve legally adopted your child. Requirements to become a foster parent

Your local DCF or foster agency offers various services for foster children and families. Parents have access to training and educational resources as well as support groups.

Foster children also have health insurance covered. The DCF provides foster families with a stipend to cover care needs like food and board. The state also offers a clothing allowance every three months that helps to reimburse parents.

A case worker visits resources families every other month or as needed, and children in foster care are also assigned a social worker. These resources are invaluable points of contact for foster parents.

Local support organizations provide further support, such as resources and helplines. Foster families in Massachusetts also form groups to assist one another, share stories, and give advice. It's an excellent opportunity to create new connections and learn more as a parent.

Spent a decent amount of my life in and out of this specific DCF custody. They targeted my family because my mom is an ex foster child. They caused me so much psychological damage from being removed so many times I now have PTSD and attachment problems because of them. The 4th time I was removed they bounced me from a program where I was happy then moved me to a program that physically and emotionally abused me. When I brought it up to my case workers they made it seem like I was lying and never did anything about it. I’ve been trying to sue but unfortunately I’ve been told “no lawyer will take the case”. It’s not “Department of Children and Families” it’s “Destroying Children and Families”

They should be shut down. They don’t do their jobs nor ever will. This whole system revolves around money they don’t care about kids at all.

Waited over three months for an assessment once done I didn’t feel as if the professional was very effective with children.

Sadly ended up in a situation where my family needed to get in touch with DCF. We were assigned a social worker named Matthew H. Mat has been very unhelpful and short with us throughout the whole process. Even knowing the depth of our situation he continues to push us away taking the shortest route possible. I don’t understand why someone that hates this line of work would choose to get into the field. If you’re looking for a caring individual for your family and loved ones, be sure to avoid MAT. Due to Mat being so unhelpful my family has received little to no help from this organization. I hope this isn’t how DCF treats all abusive family situations. Go somewhere else if you can make a way, it’s not worth your love and cared ones getting ignored.

Update: In one of two scheduled meet ups, Matt has called out ‘sick’ moments before what should have been his arrival. Worker(s) here have been unhelpful and have provided little to no additional information which clearly shows lack of interest, care, and responsibility for this line of work.

I have been greatly disappointed with EVERY interaction with this organization. I hope the internet helps expose you.
