St. Elizabeth Foundation
Since its founding, St. Elizabeth has placed more than 600 babies. Each adoption represents the love of a birth mother and the loves of an adopting family. Are you pregnant and considering adoption? We understand how hard and scary it can be, but you have options. That’s why we’re here to help you.The process of making an adoption plan is very much for a birthmom like the process of infertility treatments for an adoptive couple. They have a lot in common. They have ridden the same rollercoaster of emotion. They know grief. They know disappointment. And the miracle of it is when a couple who has known the grief of infertility comes in contact with and is blessed with a child of a woman who’s known the grief of poverty or lack of ability at the time to parent a child. So, it’s kind of a miraculous meeting of two people from different worlds who need each other.

Requirements to become a foster parent
You're never alone when you foster as you work as part of a professional team. Louisiana’s Department of Children and Family Services partners with many organizations to help support foster children and the families that care for them.
The collaborative Foster Caregiver Mentor Program encourages peer relationships between foster families. It's an effective way for new resource parents to meet with more experienced caregivers and get advice.
Your local DCFS also has plenty of resources online, including parent handbooks, contact information, and emergency service information. You can learn more about child welfare agencies and how to become a foster parent.
A child-placing agency is always there for you, providing support in times of crisis or even when you have questions. Don't forget about the case worker, who you can contact if you feel lost.
Working with the birth parents is another part of a foster parent's job. However, you don't have to simply contact them to set up visitations and calls. Co-parenting with them is often best for the child, and it can make your job easier.

Wouldn't work with my husband and I because we weren't "technically" married in LA, we were legally married in New York. The woman we spoke to was actively, honestly rude. However, that was 6years ago, I hope they've changed.

Our family adopted our third child through St. Elizabeth Foundation almost a year ago. The workers at the agency made this process very easy, as we moved to the area from another state and needed paperwork changed, updated, etc. When we decided to adopt through St. Elizabeth, it felt like joining a family. I was able to see firsthand how dedicated the employees are to both the birth parents and adoptive parents, often working outside of regular office hours. It was reassuring knowing that some of the employees were also adoptive parents and the director was also present at our finalization. I highly recommend this agency for anyone looking into adoption. My husband and I are very pleased at the ease of working with this agency and their thoughtfulness throughout the entire process.

I was the second child placed in the agency back in 1989. I am forever grateful to St.Elizabeth for placing me in the perfect family. The people there have treated me like family since birth especially Mrs. Lily, Mrs.Terri, and of course all the Town family. If you are a expecting mother considering this option I will tell you I am forever greatful for doing the most selfless thing in the world and giving me life, and a great chance. If you are considering adoption congratulations you’ve found your village.
