Requirements to become a foster parent
You'll still have support and guidance when you receive a foster placement. Kentucky has continued training and can connect new foster parents with experienced families through the Foster Parent Mentor Program.
Having access to an experienced foster family is invaluable. You'll be able to connect with other adults who have advice and can provide coaching to make your parenting journey easier.
Your local child-placing agency is one of your best sources of information and foster parenting services.
Nonprofit child welfare organizations approved by the state recruit resource parents, provide resources, and offer training and general support. When you attend the informational orientation and parent training, you'll receive books and resources that tell you more about the many available foster parent support groups.

Nightlight Christian Adoptions has been a blessing to our family. They walk you thru every step of the process. They answer your questions quickly and accurately. I would recommend them to anyone considering adoption in central KY.

The people at Nightlight's Lexington office are awesome!! They truly care about their families and the children being adopted. They walk with you through the entire process: from the time you decide to pursue adoption all the way until your child comes home with you, and through the post-adoption time period. We consider them friends and try to stop by to say hello as often as we can. We would highly recommend them!!

Nightlight Christian Adoptions have always gone above and beyond anything we ever expected with our first international adoption and as well for the adoption we are in the process of now!! We have always been treated so personal and have never felt like just another number. I have on more than one occasion talked to staff with questions or concerns I have even after their scheduled work hours!! Any time we call or email, they always take the time to make sure we get our questions or problems taken care of! With our first adoption, we felt very prepared and educated on what was to come and never felt like we were in the dark about what was next! That adoption went incredibly smooth and without problems and I owe it to the great staff at Nightllight. They have truly been a blessing to our family and will always hold a special place in our hearts!
