Boys & Girls Haven helps individuals and families in the enhancement of their emotional, mental, and physical well-being through foster care,
independence readiness, and counseling services.
Boys & Girls Haven Therapeutic Foster Care consists of a supportive network of foster homes offering kids the love and stability of a family. For many of our children, this is their first experience in a consistent and safe home – their first chance to have a childhood.
We believe that every child deserves to grow up in a safe and healthy environment they can call home. Families need strong support too. Boys & Girls Haven Therapeutic Foster Care provides foster parents with great training and is backed by the best resources in the field.

Requirements to become a foster parent
You'll still have support and guidance when you receive a foster placement. Kentucky has continued training and can connect new foster parents with experienced families through the Foster Parent Mentor Program.
Having access to an experienced foster family is invaluable. You'll be able to connect with other adults who have advice and can provide coaching to make your parenting journey easier.
Your local child-placing agency is one of your best sources of information and foster parenting services.
Nonprofit child welfare organizations approved by the state recruit resource parents, provide resources, and offer training and general support. When you attend the informational orientation and parent training, you'll receive books and resources that tell you more about the many available foster parent support groups.

My boyfriend goes here and I saw another comment where if you make the staff mad they won't give you a phone call and this is 100% true. The staff doesn't like me for stuff I didn't even do and I haven't heard from him in 5 days and counting. Like a prison. Won't let him talk to the only person he has in his life to care and be there for him.

More then half the staff hit the kids and if you make them mad they will not let you have a phone call and you will have to stay in your room. It's like a prison the staff are very disrespectful always yelling cussing and hitting the kids. I was there a few years back and I wasn't feeling good and the staff grabbed me out of the bed and the floor is carpet they pulled me out of my room and I got really bad carpet burn. They would never take me to the doctors. The person who prescribes the medicine to the kids had me on 20 something different medications. Worst place ever!!

We came here at the advice of a friend. Have not been disappointed. We have two half sisters with us now who are thriving. The staff has always been attentive to anything we’ve needed or needed to know. Jann stays on top of training and Donna always contacts us immediately with answers. I believe some of the negative reviews are geared toward the system as a whole and not toward this organization.

My volunteer experience at Boys and Girls Haven was outstanding. The staff was warm and welcoming, and patient answering all my many questions. I was so impressed with the obvious skill, compassion and acceptance the staff and counselors had for all the kids in their care. The programs they have there - like equine therapy and the garden - serve to both help the kids heal and to teach them important life and vocational skills. The folks at Boys and Girls Haven do amazing, challenging and critically important work, and I am grateful we have them in our community.

The staff are very friendly and truly care about what they are doing. They will welcome you with open arms and be by your side every step of the way before, during, and after becoming foster parent. My husband and I are blessed to have found such an amazing organization that we love being apart of.
