Bluegrass Foster Services (BFS) is a Therapeutic Foster Placing Agency. Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) is a clinical intervention, which includes placement in specifically trained foster parent homes, for youth with severe mental, emotional, or behavioral health needs. This includes developmentally delayed youth whose physical and emotional health needs require more intensive clinical and medical intervention than can be accommodated in traditional foster care. In and of itself, TFC is not a placement. It includes the placement of a child in a specialized TFC home. BFS will recruit, train, and support TFC foster parents and provide licensed clinical staff to oversee a youth’s individualized treatment plan and to provide therapeutic services such as individual and family therapy, crisis intervention, case coordination, and medication support.

BFS places children ages birth through 21 in our TFC homes. However, our priority is the youth ages 11-18 who have completed our residential treatment program. We strive to place these kids into Bluegrass Foster Services TFC homes first, if possible.

Requirements to become a foster parent

You'll still have support and guidance when you receive a foster placement. Kentucky has continued training and can connect new foster parents with experienced families through the Foster Parent Mentor Program.

Having access to an experienced foster family is invaluable. You'll be able to connect with other adults who have advice and can provide coaching to make your parenting journey easier.

Your local child-placing agency is one of your best sources of information and foster parenting services.

Nonprofit child welfare organizations approved by the state recruit resource parents, provide resources, and offer training and general support. When you attend the informational orientation and parent training, you'll receive books and resources that tell you more about the many available foster parent support groups.

I was there till I was 14yrs old now I'm 41 and it was named the Pentecostal children's home then. There butt woopins with paddles with holes hurt alot. The blatton house had plenty of bedrooms 2 choose from but yes my time there was tramatic. Back then only Christian music could be played or nothin at all and rules were very strict including the house parents.Sure taught me alot 1 don't ever go back and 2 keep my kids far far away from there. Won't even let em attend there camp. Also the TEENAGE MUNATANT NINJA TURTLES were supposedly SATANISM.

This place is a awful place for the kids. The time there is spent sitting in a 10 x 10 foot room for hours upon hours with a random kid with issues for 6 months. Staff doesn’t do their job the way they’re trained, nothing ever gets done, very unorganized with the kids personal belongings, there is a lot of theft that never gets dealt with along with the kids not being treated as an equal. Staff also sit in the school all day bragging about putting kids In restrains along with instigating residents to act out. I think maybe if the staff got paid more then maybe they would care more about their job instead of treating it like a joke and hating their job.
