UCP Seguin
United Cerebral Palsy Seguin of Greater Chicago is a charitable not-for-profit agency serving individuals with disabilities in metropolitan Chicago and beyond.
We receive referrals from DCFS and other foster care providers to foster children with special needs. Our children come from temporary homes, hospitals or residential settings. All of the children we work with have experienced trauma and many have experienced neglect. They need dedicated foster parents to welcome them into their homes and provide love and nurturing.
UCP Seguin’s foster care professionals have the expertise, experience, and compassion to deliver the right mix of services to the children and foster care families we serve. They work around the clock as a highly coordinated team to fulfill foster and biological families’ needs.
Children and young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, and medical needs require the special care and loving attention UCP Seguin foster homes provide. Youth in our care can count on us to provide a safe place to call home, 24/7 support, and the stability they need. UCP Seguin not only serves children with specialized needs, but we also keep families together by supporting all siblings.

Requirements to become a foster parent
You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Illinois. To become a foster parent, you must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Attend foster parent orientation
- Pass a background check
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete the Home Study

Foster families must be able to provide a safe and comfortable home for a child. You must provide room for the child to have a bed and enough space for personal belongings.
Foster parents do not need to be married or have a partner. However, if married, couples must show a stable marriage of at least one year before they can foster a child in Illinois.

Contact the DCFS or a local licensed child-placing agency to learn more or begin the fostering approval process.
