Methodist Home of the South Georgia Conference Inc
HOPE Foster Care & Adoption is the private, faith-based foster care and adoption program of The Methodist Home.
OUR MISSION
HOPE Foster Care & Adoption aims to recruit, train, and support caregivers as they provide children and youth with emotional and physical safety. The experienced, professional team of case workers at HOPE Foster Care & Adoption provides caregivers with intensive training to help build their skills and confidence in parenting children who have experienced trauma.
HOPE Foster Care & Adoption case workers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to offer support and encouragement. They also join in the celebrations of the children served through HOPE.
WHAT IS FOSTER CARE?
Foster care is meant to be a temporary service for children unable to live with their families. Children and families in need of foster care services have experienced trauma and significant loss and require help as they work toward reunification.
Through HOPE Foster Care & Adoption, foster parents complete specialized training and are supported to meet the needs of children who have experienced trauma. Foster parents are also equipped with the tools and skills needed as they support birth families on the road to reunification.

Requirements to become a foster parent
The DHS assists foster families with placement and ensures the child adjusts well to their new environment. Whether you have years of parenting experience or are relatively new to the idea, they have many support options for families. You can find plenty of information on the DHS/DFCS website or call them for more assistance.
Your local licensed child placement agency also places children in the foster system with carefully matched parents. Although foster care is temporary, it's crucial to find the right fit. That's why parents get a say in age range and gender.
There are also many state support groups for foster families that provide educational resources, services, and more. Connecting with these organizations and adding to your personal support network will be invaluable.
One of the best ways to become a better parent, whether you plan on fostering a child short-term or adopting, is to read as much as you can about Georgia's foster system. For instance, recently proposed bills would help to streamline parts of the state's foster care placement system.
You can find plenty of information available online for free as well. Blogs, podcasts, and videos are all incredibly useful ways to obtain new information about fostering.

I haven't seen where any past or present employees of Carpenter's Way/The Methodist Home has posted so being a former employee I will.
RUN FAR AWAY FROM HERE! There are many wolves in sheep's clothing at this agency. There is a person in authority who will be honest but be discerning because in that honesty are woven in lies and most times won't own up to their shortcomings.
I have seen young leave unchanged. They left the same way they came in. I haven't seen anyone transitioned back to their families unless its happened since I left this year.
Be afraid when a person in authority says they don't know half of what goes on around there and be very afraid if that same person comes unglued in a staff meeting and starts yelling. I love people who are passionate about their work but if I'm sitting across from you I'm not deaf. And then to have weak minded HSP's saying how great they are.
Regional Management needs to take ownership of their position and make Management decisions and not sit back and "let God weed out who he doesn't want".
If you do wise up and resign before your 90 days are up don't put them down on your resume because more than likely they will try and burn you when you apply for a similar job.
The management from here up to Macon treats their employees who advocate for the residents like they have the plague because we are bad business for them. Keeping beds full keeps money in their pockets.
