We are dedicated to achieving measurable, positive outcomes for children and families in the Central Florida communities we serve. Please join us in creating brighter futures for children and families.

Protecting Children

Child safety is of utmost concern. Through child abuse prevention programming, diversion services, and case management coordination. Kids Central puts the safety and well-being of children first.

Supporting Families

Kids Central understands the importance of a family unit. If safely possible, we work to keep families together and strive to bring them back together through case management coordination and diversion support services.

Engaging Communities

As the lead community-based care organization, the community’s support and commitment are integral to Kids Central’s mission. To build a child-centered community-based system of care, Kids Central assesses any gaps in available services, evaluates the needs of the community, and harnesses its strength.

Requirements to become a foster parent

Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Prove good health and ability to care for a child
  • Maintain a stable income
  • Pass a background screening
  • Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
  • Complete a Home Study

The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Really nice people, but your process in becoming a foster parent is extremely, extremely demanding to the point where potential foster parents are eluding the idea of becoming one. The immense amount of paperwork, the hour drive to your location (with no chance of bringing a child, nor a space for children with parents without a babysitter), the immensely long computer classes and so much more. Understanding to an extent, your process, rules and regulations, but at what cost? Where is the threshold before realizing that you've pushed good people away?

Never get anyone to call you back until maybe a week! Plus if your a grandparent and they want you to adopt be careful on what they tell you check them out completely and have everything in writing , if you adopt a kid and you children don’t graduate school after there 18 you will not get any money to support them while they are trying to finish. They told us oh yea we will still pay until they graduate bull**** they lie. I have four grandchildren and two turn 18 before they graduate one , one year before she graduates. So no Income to help them. Also another lie yes they only pay for tuition for college nothing else so you will have to pay for all the books and dorms . And if they tell you , they will get a car that’s also another lie. I wouldn’t use this place for adoption there are some tall tales that they will tell you , especially if you grandchildren are coming to you through the system. Anything just to get rid of the kid onto you with no help. Also grandparents who don’t have insurance for medical they don’t care about your health either you aren’t getting any medical for you like Medicade to keep you healthy to raise these children. Js watch the lies they tell you.

Kids Central is full of people who genuinely care about our kids, and are there with you every step of the way with support. We were foster and adoptive parents Through KCI. We are starting the process again, and so far it’s been the same great experience. Thank you for all you guys do!
