Requirements to become a foster parent

Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Prove good health and ability to care for a child
  • Maintain a stable income
  • Pass a background screening
  • Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
  • Complete a Home Study

The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

I worked for KCI for three years. I absolutely loved my team and supervisor, however, the need for child services protective programs and demands got in the way of my family time. It is evident that parenting a tough job, however, many parents disagree as they often put the responsibility on others. Nevertheless, the inocent and vulnerable kiddos are the ones who suffered the consequences. I loved my job, loved helping those parents who wanted the help. . . however, late work hours and weekends for in the way of my parenting. I chose my family, however, miss working for such a wonderful team at KCI.

First I would like to say if you call kids Central to adopt to foster and no one answers consider yourself lucky me and my husband did the process and become licensed to adopt they will tell you what ever you want to hear to get you to adopt or to foster in their class they will tell you during the match. If it does not work out it will not be held against you that’s a lie we had the opportunity to adopt for children As soon as we met the children they moved in very quickly with two visitations at a park and then move in day on the day of school let out For spring break 2020 this is our store we went from four kids we barely knew we were in our home is a school let out on spring break from that day little we knew we become parents Teachers to four kids two very good kids and two with severe behavior issues me and my husband sit out to adopt children to share our life experiences with travel and camping the most important it was very clear to our adoption recruiter Toni on our needs we were under the impression that once when the children moved in we still had 90 days to decide whether we wanted to adopt that was part of the match process little did We now once we decided that we was not a match with his children they were the opposite as us we called to discuss this with Toni and her team they tried just say whatever it took to get us to adopt it didn’t matter whether the children were connecting with us or we connected with the children I guess what I’m trying to say is what we learned through this whole process is sad now that we have decided not to adopt those four children they will not even allow us to foster the system is so broken so sad there’s so many people good people that would love to care for a child Like us so now that we have decided not to adopt we are now no longer allowed to even foster so sad we do not recommend anyone to use this agency they do not care about the children and they will tell you anything to get you to adopt so beware and do your research very well

In the process of becoming foster parents and came here for orientation and 5 weeks of classes. Kim and Carla were great instructors and we can’t wait to get our license! The process has been as easy as it could be and we are beyond excited to finally become parents. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking to become a foster or adoptive parent. There is so much need for good homes for these kids.
