First Coast Adoption Professionals has the extensive knowledge to help adoptive families find the right child for them. Our adoptions are usually semi-open, meaning the birth mother has active participation in selecting adoptive parents. We guide you through every step of the process, from the initial application to the final adoption. Most importantly, we give you the emotional support to deal with the inevitable ups and downs of an adoption.

First Coast Adoption Professionals is licensed as an agency in Florida, Connecticut and New York and works with a wide variety of other agencies across the United States. Our large geographic range gives us more flexibility in finding the right homes for children.
Home Studies
Since we guide you through the entire adoption process, our licensed staff also conducts state-regulated home studies and post-placement visits. These studies help us get to know you, your family members and the home environment you would provide to an adopted child.
The in-depth study includes review of your background, employment, income, education, lifestyle, values, family life and more. We conduct home studies not only to comply with state law, but to also help us make the best match possible for both you and the child.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Just because you can does not mean you should . Just because you can act on behalf of the biological family doesn’t mean you should allow “foster parents” to STEAL another family’s biological children. The end goal should have always been to reunite the children with their biological family .
The mere audacity of this organization stringing our family along for over a year in regards to my 4 cousins that my mom (their grand aunt) fought very hard to get custody of. As requested by the courts - my mom did everything required to get custody. It’s a shock and surprise to me and my two eldest brothers (who are also upstanding citizens) because no one is more equip and fit than our mom to care for our boys. She’s been an educator for decades and has raised many children. Our family has been through a lot over these last few years. We trusted LJD to have our families’ best interest and it’s clear now that THEY NEVER HAD OUR BEST INTEREST. What is the Caucasian obsession with adopting black children?
The foster family does not comb our boys heads and our boys still aren’t potty trained. During one of the visits my mom mentioned she witnessed the Caucasian foster parent encouraging one of our toddlers to “drink from mommas cup” …why does the biological family have to witness our toddlers drinking the foster parents BACK WASH and calling her momma ??? My mom has been too nice and cooperative during the oppressors whole lying misleading process and it seems like LJD and everyone else involved took advantage of her niceness.
Since it appears we have to lawyer up for an appeal, we will do what needs to be done to fight for our boys while they are still young. This has been a heartbreaking and traumatic experience to say the least. Give us back our children. With everything going on in the media now, we have been very concerned and more than patient with the system. LJD needs to be throughly investigated . The one star reviews tell all.

It’s has been a nightmare dealing with this agency. If anyone out there can help me. I adopted three children from this agency but haven’t been able to get /updated stamp birth certificate or legal stamp adoption certificate documents.

This organization initiated the TERMINATION of my niece’s Parental Rights with just days left before she would have gained complete custody of her four boys. Then a “therapist” created/invented a block for me to have at least one fair visitation. The overly attached Foster Mom had to be present along with five other people to supervise. Worse experience I have EVER HAD! I was totally humiliated. I instinctively knew that they were looking for an excuse to not allow visitation and sure enough after three visits, they stopped all further contact. They treated me like I was a criminal or something.
After I immediately completed everything that was asked, LJD Jewish Family literally STOLE my Four grand nephews!!!! Based on “psychological evaluations” from a therapist, the AARC committee recommended that the children remain with their overly attached Fosters.
This awful experience took almost 12 months of being strung along month after month for them to even come to a “conclusion”. Also the time my niece had to endure several UNFOUNDED calls to DCF from an “anonymous source” when she was trying to complete her reunification process.
The Foster Mom confidently told me that she was going to adopt my grand nephews on my first of only three visits and she was absolutely correct! Guess she is happy now as this leaves my family with yet another tragedy!
As a DCPS educator, parent and grandparent I would definitely NOT recommend LJD Jewish Family Community Services for reuniting families. The organization is geared towards helping “Fosters” not Biological Families. It is a sin and a shame that this is legal and acceptable as good for children. Unbelievable! If I could rate it a zero, I would.

My wife and I were told by a case worker Eric evins that he was going to recommend reunification of are 4kids when we went to court but when we got to court Eric was no longer are case worker and there was a stand in case worker there .we were dealing with judge gooding least to say we never got are kids back Jewish family and judge gooding took are parental rights and adopted are kids out .not cool not right at all judge gooding to to be locked up and Jewish family shut down
