Requirements to become a foster parent

Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Prove good health and ability to care for a child
  • Maintain a stable income
  • Pass a background screening
  • Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
  • Complete a Home Study

The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Connie from Going Adoptions has been an absolute God-send in this process. We worked with two other agencies and lost 2 years because we didn’t understand the process. Connie was so kind, informative, and the agency is practical and straight-forward. She really cares and we were so grateful to find her on our adoption journey. We wish her and her team all the continued success in the world. Thank you!!!

Absolutely incredible top tier agency this is ! I don’t know where I’d be without the help, love & understanding and no judgement that was given to me through the adoption process
The directors personally made my journey a beautiful experience the families that they have are remarkable and deserving. If you’re looking for safe space and support I’d call them.

We adopted with them and our adoption was finalized in July. Amazing contact and amazing ladies at the agency. My son’s birthmom also raves about how well they treat her. Connie sat at the hospital with my son’s birthmom for almost a week as she was hospitalized before our son was born!
Love love love them!!

I have known Connie Going and colleagues for many years in a professional capacity. As an adoption expert physician, I can say these people are completely dedicated to children and families and those in need. We have worked collaboratively with the toughest cases. And their adoption and surrogacy group care deeply for the high risk child and parent. Top notch group
