We recruit, license, and support loving foster families that provide stability and safety to children in the midst of uncertainty.

Children unable to live safely at home find security, guidance, and opportunity with CHS. Our first priority is always their safety and well-being, and our case managers are passionate about building bridges to success for children in foster care. We also empower kids to realize their full potential by providing opportunities for counseling, tutoring other educational activities, recreational activities, mentoring, and more. Thousands of Florida children need a safe place to live – right now. These kids – from newborns to teenagers – can’t live at home until their families work through challenges interfering with their safety.

They need hope, love, and structure. If you’re ready to open your heart and home, we can’t wait to talk to you.

Requirements to become a foster parent

Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Prove good health and ability to care for a child
  • Maintain a stable income
  • Pass a background screening
  • Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
  • Complete a Home Study

The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Super Racist remarks to delivery driver. Felt unsafe and scared. They came out and began to use hateful racist language against me and I felt very uncomfortable. I was only trying to do my job as doordash delivery.

The director Sheryl overcash treats the staff and kids with no respect as human beings she treats them like animals and she only looks at the kids as dollar signs. Their was one incident where a kid made a shank and tried to stab a kid and and a window was broke in the process and the only thing she was worried about was who is going to pay for the window she didn’t check if the kids were ok or if anyone was hurt she was just focused on the money for the window this is not the first incident to happen like that she is greedy and selfish

This group home is absolutely treacherous. Staff are mentally and physically abusive. Constantly used profanity, hated their job, made fun of kids, sexualized kids on campus as well. Hardly any food to eat, lights didnt work in my house, air conditioner constantly cutting out for days, washer and dryer broken, old vans with no air conditioning as well. The place was infested with spiders, roaches, and bedbugs that carried, 'hand-foot-and-mouth disease'. I got into the fostercare system escaping the abuse from my home. But, living in the system doesn't give you anything but more abuse and trauma. It just adds on to your struggles in life. Kids and staff are over all terrible. The best thing about the place is, the ability to keep your phone.

Hibiscus is one of the best. Place among the non profit that help less fortunate and abuse kids. The staffs are very care and have good heart of their kids. They are patience and loving to the kids. The only things they are under pay. Even thought they still doing more for the kids regardeless the misunderstanding of the board and administrative department to pay them better but, they always there and ready to do what is good, better for the kids to become a good citizen for the society.
