We recruit, license, and support loving foster families that provide stability and safety to children in the midst of uncertainty.

Children unable to live safely at home find security, guidance, and opportunity with CHS. Our first priority is always their safety and well-being, and our case managers are passionate about building bridges to success for children in foster care. We also empower kids to realize their full potential by providing opportunities for counseling, tutoring other educational activities, recreational activities, mentoring, and more. Thousands of Florida children need a safe place to live – right now. These kids – from newborns to teenagers – can’t live at home until their families work through challenges interfering with their safety.

They need hope, love, and structure. If you’re ready to open your heart and home, we can’t wait to talk to you.

Requirements to become a foster parent

Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Prove good health and ability to care for a child
  • Maintain a stable income
  • Pass a background screening
  • Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
  • Complete a Home Study

The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

Kids need a safe place to live and grow. While his/her home life may not have been perfect and ended up here, the staff on hand have tried to give each child here just that. Even if you are not up to the challenge of being a foster parent donate what you can to let our childern ( yes I said our childern, because I community raises a child) know someone is there for him/her unconditionally even if he/she has been so hurt and pushes back.

This place is a great place for kids to live in. Although there has been incidents in the past, Mrs Sheryl is protecting the community for everyone to feel safe in. She give us shelter, a roof over our head, and she give us opportunities to do things we love. My name is Tate Grove, I’ve only live at hibiscus for 1 year snd 6 months and they kept me safe when I needed them they deserve it all. Because Mrs. Sheryl is the best. She very respectful, loving, caring and more. Good job Mrs Sheryl

I'm a current employee and can say I enjoy working here and helping the kids on campus and I enjoy my job and I get treated well. I can say that the director sheryl is great at her job and helps her fellow staff and kids here 💯 and is a very caring person. These kids here get party's and goes on events and outings and has good holidays here while they are living here the director and assist director and administration take the time to help and take care of any issues or concerns that arise with the kids or fellow staff and take the time to speak with them. This is a very positive atmosphere and all staff come together to make this place a great place to be and work. I can say the director sheryl is doin a great job with her position and takes care of everyone here. I would recommend anyone to apply who enjoys making a difference in a child's life.

This place is amazingly ran and well kept. The houses are always neat and clean with no bugs or otherwise! and the kids are extremely well taken care of fed clothed and clean and schooled. All needs are met if not exceeded! They get more for birthdays and Christmases and otherwise than kids in happy homes.! Miss Sheryl is the most caring and empathetic director this place has ever had and it can only get better under her leadership. Anyone who says otherwise about this place is a disgruntled former employee or unhappy child! And that folks, is the truth. From a former employee of HBC!

Extremely negligent, unethical, unsafe, unprofessional, unproductive place for staff and children. This place has displayed many government violations to the children that are place there. This facility is for abandoned and neglected children but the children are treated like inmates, animals, and trash. The staff are poorly trained, and are careless with the lives of these children there. Some staff are on mental meds and is definitely not stable enough to lead other let alone the kids in the facility . The director Miss Sheryl is the most unpleasant, disrespectful, crude, director I have ever met. She had no respect for her staff neither cares for the kids she has at the facility. If she continue to run the facility it will be shut down due to the fraud, corruption, and the misguidance of her fellow staff and the children lives that are in her hands. When encountered with an issue she simply disregards the issue to prevent further investigations to the facilities. Encouraging staff and children not to speak with officers of the law when incidents happen. When faced with other challenges she simply result in trying to throw them under the rug. She will express to other employees and staff how important the funds that are given to the facility is the main priority. In other words do anything or don’t do anything to keep the funds coming.
