Klingberg Family Centers, Inc.
Klingberg Family Centers has been providing hope and healing to children and their families since 1903. Our goal is to extend hope and healing to children and families whose lives have been traumatized by abuse and/or neglect in its various forms, severe family problems, and mental health issues. Through an array of group care, special education, and community programs, children and parents are given the encouragement and skills they need to function more effectively at home, in school, and in their community.
Klingberg’s foster parents are committed to providing a healthy environment to help youth thrive and make positive changes. Foster families work to reunify children with their birth families or stabilize them until a permanency resource is identified. Foster families provide a stable home and strong connections to their school, friends, siblings, and other family members and more. I thank every Klingberg foster parent for their commitment to keeping children safe in loving homes during a time when children need them the most.

Requirements to become a foster parent
You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Connecticut. Before you start, educate yourself and reach out to a foster care agency. Social workers recommend that you and other family members in your home feel ready before starting your foster journey. Caring for a foster child takes time, patience, and persistence.
Contact your local licensed child-placing agency or attend an orientation meeting to learn more about what fostering entails. They will inform you about foster parent requirements, common obstacles you might face, and unique challenges among foster children. All foster kids have experienced trauma. Training teaches foster parents how best to help foster children manage their feelings and feel secure.
You must meet minimum state requirements to qualify as a foster care provider in Connecticut. Foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Offer a safe living environment
- Pass a police and FBI background check
- Maintain sufficient income to care for a family
- Complete the 10-week training program
- Provide a separate bed for the foster child
- Complete the Home Study process
- Have a clean driving record (pass a DMV check)
Kids of the same gender in a similar age range may share a bedroom.
Contact the Connecticut Department of Children and Families or a local child-placing agency for additional questions about foster parent requirements.

They will make appointments while your child is in school and expect you to take them out early to attend to the zoom!. Will put your child on medication to then take them away from them for being late to a zoom won’t bother to reschedule another one after about three months of them being on it!.. They’ll watch and constantly get report on how your child is behaving now that they decided to say nope to refills to then all they can say it awww I understand but I can’t do anything oh and they’ll refer you to other places and but will repeat many times if you decide to swap your child out your just gonna get stuck doing the whole evaluation thing all over again!. So being with these people you can’t have a full schedule and your mind has to be really good with memory’s especially if you have a handful at home cause if not then the help from them is gone!!.. I’m not a fan of this place thanks for nothing

Really really exciting to see a car show happen here in this year during these unprecedented times with the coronavirus pandemic it was really nice to see that the klingberg Family Foundation decided to keep people safe and and think about people that have not been vaccinated over people that have been vaccinated as well to keep everyone safe in the community as possible I would want to thank all of the klingberg people that set up this car show for keeping everyone safe and helping us stop the spread of covid-19 can't wait to enjoy more car shows at this location in September where people are allowed to walk around and conversate with people that own cars
