Requirements to become a foster parent
Many do not realize the need for new resource families in California. The number of foster kids outnumber the foster families who can provide short or long-term care. Foster advocates work hard to find places for these children, but it is not easy.
The latest 2021 report from the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) report in California says there are:
- 47,871 kids in California's foster care system
- 22,892 who entered foster care
- 15,386 foster kids awaiting adoption
- California foster kids across all ages, with a median of 8 years
- 33% whose foster child case plans include adoption
A child's median time in the California foster care system is over a year at 16.8 months. 13% spend 3-4 years in foster care.
California needs foster parents to take in multiple children if they have the time and energy to care for them. Sibling groups often need care, and it is essential to support these family bonds. In California, it is challenging to find homes for teenagers, though they need stable environments and reliable adults to support them.

This is a review for the preschool.
Our tour was great and they were very friendly. The curriculum sounded good so we enrolled our daughter. On the first day of school all of the kids in the class already knew her name. Even the other parents are friendly.
At this point in time we have only been impressed. She absolutely loves it there and we know that she's able to learn and grow.

I just noticed many 5-star reviews here were written by their own staff and management?! Don’t get fooled.
My daughter went to Audubon, but we used Kids Connection Elementary School for after school care last year. Very disappointing experience:
1. Poor communication and exclusion: Audubon families were excluded from weekly newsletters and program updates.
2. Kids were not closely supervised: Daughter wet her pants (because she could not find any staff member around to show her where the bathroom was), no one noticed her pants were wet for the whole day. Her pants and underwear got pulled off by another kid more than once but no adult witnessed. Came home with an untreated open wound on her forehead, but no one notified us at pick up.
3. Pick up van was out of service multiple times throughout the year, and the kids had to walk over in the rain and wind. Their back up plan was “If you are not comfortable with us walking with your students you will need to pick-up/drop off or cancel aftercare for the next couple days.”
4. Their website advertised STEAM activities, craft, group work and all that, but it was mostly just coloring/drawing and outdoor free play. The program is overpriced compared to other programs in the area that offer similar activities.

This is a review for kids connection PreSchool.
I want to enroll my son to their preschool program and so we toured the facility. Unfortunately the front desk lady (tall and blond) gave us a pretty cold treatment and precisely speaking, she appeared to be NOT friendly at all.
SO....Guess What.... we are looking elsewhere! You are not the only school in Foster City!!!

Awesome school! You will get the nurture and caring a 2 year old and a 3 year old should get. The Pre-K prepares them for coming school years. My daughter and we love the teachers and school. Ultimately, I want my child to love her school and she does! Ms Tina, Mrs Quinn, Ms Vanessa, Ms Vanya, Ms Stephanie, Mrs Stegmann and Mrs Bianchi are wonderful teachers who have helped my daughter grow into a wonderful person in their own ways. Ms Cindy has started approaching schooling in a much creative way and that is totally appreciable. We will give a five star to kids connection!
