There are many reasons why you might choose to place your child for adoption. Maybe you are just not ready to parent a child. Perhaps you want to finish school before you start a family. Possibly you want more for your child than you are able to provide at this time. It is never easy to place a child for adoption…but some times, it is what is best for your child and you.
Making an adoption plan takes courage and maturity. It takes the ability to put your child’s needs before yours. We respect the decision you have made to allow your child to be born. In choosing adoption, you further demonstrate your love and concern for your child, and your desire that the child has a good start in life, even if you cannot provide that.

Family Adoption Services was established in 1991. We are a private child placement agency, licensed by the State of Alabama. Our agency is committed to providing comprehensive services and caring support to birthparents and adoptive parents. We offer birthparents counseling, legal services, medical care, financial aid, and the opportunity to choose the adoptive parent profile they wish for their child to have. We offer adoptive parents counseling, home studies, post-placement visits, and all legal services.

Requirements to become a foster parent
You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Alabama. Foster parents for children in need must:
- Be 19 years of age or older
- Offer a safe and caring home environment
- Provide adequate space for the foster child
- Maintain financial stability
- Ensure all household members are in good health
- Meet necessary home requirements
- Pass a background check
- Finish the 30-hour training course
- Complete the Home Study process

Staff will not return calls, texts or emails and yes, I am a birth mother! I have emailed, called and texted for almost 2 months with no reply! I'm going to try AGAIN today!

We adopted through family adoption services and they were such amazing people to work with. It was a great experience and we would do it all over again! If you are a birth mother looking to place your child with a loving family contact Family Adoption Services! They love their birthmoms and adoptive families! I'm thankful for our girls birthmom... She chose life and gave us a gift like no other.

Wonderful experience throughout our entire adoption. You could not ask for people that cared more than at FAS. I highly recommend looking no further if you are considering adoption.

Susan and Rick are amazing to work with. They listen and care and encourage and pray for both birth parents and adoptive parents alike. They do this out of love and His light, which is apparent from the beginning.

The amazing people at Family Adoption Services are top notch. They have a heart for serving birth mothers and adoptive families. They were the integral part in me bringing home my beautiful son, and they will be a special part of our lives forever. WE LOVE YOU FAS!
