NECCO, Inc.
Founded in 1996 as a provider of in-home therapeutic foster care, Necco has grown into a multi-state child welfare organization offering a broad array of services. Each of these service lines employs the most innovative programs and treatment approaches designed to equip children with the tools they need to live fulfilling, purpose-driven lives.
Necco started as a foster care agency, and it’s where our roots grow deepest. Since 1996 we’ve been recruiting and training a network of foster parents who provide safe, stable and loving homes to children in need. We support our parents with on-going training, 24/7 on-call availability, financial reimbursement, counseling services and professional support staff. By becoming a foster parent you are positively impacting these children at an exceptionally fragile point in their lives, and you are creating a future filled with hope and promise. We are purpose-driven, and that purpose is to lift children out of an impossible situation and into a world filled with hope. Our purpose is to not only change their circumstances but their journey. This change requires a sense of safety, stability, and a strong support network that can only come from caring adults

Requirements to become a foster parent
When you want to apply to become a foster parent, your first step should be contacting the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources or a private foster agency. An advocate will reach out to you and answer any questions you have. Your foster agency is one of your best sources of support.
West Virginia HealthCheck is an Early Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment program available to kids in foster care. Through the program, foster children receive a variety of care options, including appointments for primary health and preventative services. Kids also receive dental screenings, immunizations, behavioral and developmental assessments, etc.
Foster parents may receive a subsidy for each foster child in their care as well as clothing allowances and vouchers. Talk to your foster agency to learn more about monthly foster care payments, as these vary depending on the age and needs of the child.
Check your region for foster parent support groups as well. These groups provide excellent opportunities to meet other foster families and receive help.
