Requirements to become a foster parent
Adults who are new to the fostering process sometimes feel overwhelmed and wonder if they will have support on their journey. Your child-placing agency is the first resource. Social services caseworkers provide aspiring foster parents with various types of support and connections. These include free educational training programs, helplines, and support groups.
It is important that foster parents build their individual support network, too. Connecting with other foster families with more experience is an excellent place to begin. Texas groups offer foster parent meetups; you can search online for the closest one.
The Texas Foster Family Association provides state training, a regional directory of support services, a summer training conference, and more. Membership benefits include getting access to foster care professionals and learning more about ways to become better caregivers. Children of TFFA members can also get assistance through the Scholarship Fund.
Austin Angels is another support organization that strives to assist foster parents and Texas foster children. They offer care packages and gifts for foster children and their caregivers, mentorship options, and education, among other resources. Foster children and teens can learn valuable skills that help prepare them for independent living, as well.

If I could give less than one star on this place I would. This place is not worried about kids or their families whatsoever. They allow foster parents to drug the kids so they can have “peace” and “quiet”. They don’t care about the safety of the children in the system. Kids are being fostered by people who are only in it for the money, no other reason. Absolutely devastating.

This agency is the worst, Beware!!! They are very unprofessional and unorganized. They lost my certifications and wanted me to re-take the tests. They said I didn’t need fingerprint, then told me my 1st placement would be delayed because I did need fingerprints. Then came back and said I didn’t. They aren’t timely at all. I started a transfer to another agency because of how horrible they are. Then they did a 360 on me, after telling me how great I was with he kids. They took my license, closed my home, and had CPS pick the kids up from school. They called me saying they have the kids, they want to pick up 2 days worth of clothes and medicine. They showed up the next day and I made them get every single toy , clothing item, paper work, and meds too. I wanted my foster kids to have everything they deserved. They were mad about it. Took it personal and started acting egotistical. One of my foster kids ended up with a family member who also fosters. They wouldn’t let me do respite, being petty trying to keep me away from the kids. They do not care about these kids, they care about money. My kids ate good, went to a nice school, had friends in our nice neighborhood. Their rooms were well decorated. I brought them nice clothes/shoes(name brand). We did fun activities in the house and outside events. Visited family, went on trips and so much more. I loved them and they loved me. My heart was broken because they never gave me notice to prepare myself and the kids mentally that they were leaving my home. My family member didn’t get paid on time because they accidentally paid it to someone else. The person they paid it to wasn’t even with the agency and hadn’t been in over a year. How do you still have ppl in your payroll books after a year. This agency should be closed down!!! Do not , I repeat DO NOT LET THEM LICENSE YOU!!!!!!!!!!! They don’t even deserve 1 star. They lied to CPS , they were moving the kids to be closer with their siblings. Lies!!! I hope they get all the karma they deserve.
