Lifeline Children's Services
Change a life.
Established in 1974, Hand in Hand is a full-service international adoption agency. We have placed nearly 10,000 children with loving families in the United States because we believe every child deserves a place to call home and a family of their own. Hand in Hand is Hague-accredited by the Intercountry Adoption Accreditation and Maintenance Entity (IAAME). Welcome to the beginning of your adoption journey!
Where you are located helps determine what services we can provide to you. Rest assured, if you are in the United States, we can help. If you are a U.S. citizen living abroad, we can also help you adopt from most countries we serve.
With offices in Colorado, Indiana, Utah, and Florida, we are a full-service placement agency able to walk you through the adoption process from start to finish. That means home study, training, dossier preparation, child match referrals, travel, placement, post-placement visits and support, and adoption validation (and everything in between!) all rolled into one seamless package.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Foster parents receive financial support in the form of a monthly board rate. Foster children also receive a clothing allowance, and their medical needs are covered through Medicaid.
In addition to the support you receive from your local DHS or foster care agency, there are other programs and resources available to parents.
The South Carolina Foster Parent Association offers free training to foster parents and kinship caregivers. You can find information on the latest laws and events as well. Plus, you gain access to valuable resources such as informational articles, contact information for professionals, etc.
The SC Foster Parent Association also allows foster families to connect with one another and share advice. You can find local association meetings in your area on their website.
The program Heartfelt Calling's mission is recruiting and supporting foster and adoptive families. Parents can learn more about the system, start the application process, register for orientation, find webinars, and more.
Foster parents that care for children in DSS custody receive reimbursement for related costs. These monthly foster care payments are meant to meet a child's basic care needs.
The most recent board rates are on the South Carolina Department of Social Services website. Payments may vary depending on a child's age and special needs.

Our family began the adoption process in June of 2018. As we wait to finally travel to China to adopt our waiting child, Lifeline continues to hold our hand and be accessible for any questions. They are at the ready to offer support, resources, guidance, prayer, and encouragement. I am still so glad our family chose Lifeline Children's Services out of the many options. Thank you, Lifeline!

Lifeline isn't just about adoption. They're about people - and from the top down, we met the best people. From the Birmingham HQ to the local offices and social workers, we found everyone to be at the top of their game. They guided us through the process with ease and professionalism that one should expect from an adoption agency.
Their care for the birth mother is the best out there. Their care for the children, the thoroughness of their social workers during the home study visits, and their patience and comfort during placement and court visits should be reason enough to look at Lifeline as an agency - whether you're placing your child for adoption or planning to be an adoptive parent. Do it. Your life will be significantly different in every possible good way.

Lifeline has been such a great resource in support of our Faith Church Orphan Care Ministry. Lifeline staff are very knowledgeable and very responsive to any questions we may have. Thank you so much for being a great partner in helping the vulnerable children in our community.

Lifeline does such a great job helping guide families through the adoption journey. The support begins with walking alongside women deciding to place a child for adoption. Lifeline provides legal, emotional and even spiritual guidance to help navigate a woman through an adoption. They are able to identify loving couples who will provide forever families for these children. They do an amazing job providing pregnancy counseling, parenting classes, foster training and social work support for every person involved in the adoption journey. We are so thankful God led us to use Lifeline for our adoption.
