Triangle Adoption Services
Triangle Adoption Services is a licensed adoption agency specializing in adoptive home study and post-adoption services to families residing in North Carolina. Our agency has adoption social workers located across the state to serve families beyond the home office in Chapel Hill. These regions include Asheville, Charlotte, Wilmington, Winston Salem, and surrounding areas. Our social workers are seasoned adoption professionals with the highest recommendations from satisfied clients.
Also known as a pre-placement assessment, the home study is one of the first steps required in the adoption process. With over twenty years of experience in adoptions, agency owner and director Susan Brown will provide professional, timely, and knowledgeable support to guide you through the adoption process each step of the way.
As your home study agency, we work closely with your child-placing agency, consultant, and/or adoption attorney to ensure all requirements are met for a smooth and efficient adoption process. We also provide services to families seeking step-parent and relative adoptions.

Requirements to become a foster parent
The state requires that foster parents get licensed through their local Department of Social Services or a licensed private agency. These sources will be your best form of support. Through them, you'll receive training and have a point of contact for emergencies.
If you ever have questions, reach out to your case manager. They're trained to assist foster families and the children in their care.
The Foster Family Alliance of North Carolina is a statewide association that recruits new parents, provides training, and offers support. You can find training and webinars online. You can also read parenting tips, find your region, and more.
The National Foster Parent Association is a non-profit that provides training and education. Caregivers can also find free online training through the NFPA.
The NC Division of Social Services (NC DSS) is the agency in charge of overseeing the state's child welfare system. NC Kids assists new foster parents with the early stages of the process. You can find children awaiting adoption and access foster care and adoption support services.
It also helps to form connections with other foster families, especially those with years of experience. You may have questions or need advice from them. It can make you feel like you have someone on your side through your journey.

My husband and I are adopting embryos and the clinic we are using requires a homestudy. I was not looking forward to the process and feeling like I was under a microscope in order to “pass” the homestudy. Our experience was nothing like I imagined it would be. We worked with Susan and Lisa and both ladies were absolutely fantastic! What I thought would be us being scrutinized turned out to be us receiving more support and advice than anything else. Our homestudy took a little longer than we planned due to the pandemic and my husband dragging his feet, but it was finished faster than the timeframe provided by all the other agencies I spoke with. We submitted the homestudy report to our clinic for review and the social worker who reviewed it said that she had never read a more entertaining or thoroughly written report, and that she could tell Lisa and Susan put a lot of effort into it. The communication between myself and both of these ladies was always prompt, efficient, and respectful. I highly recommend and appreciate these ladies for helping us become parents 🥰

We highly recommend Triangle Adoption Services. Their care for our family was evident in their desire to educate, communicate clearly, and quickly get results. We are so pleased with our experience with the team there. We are very grateful we had the opportunity to work with them.

We used Triangle Adoption Services for our private, independent adoption, and couldn't have asked for better support along the way. After a rough start with another agency, we reached out to TAS and found so much support, encouragement, and guidance from Susan and Kim! Even when all our paperwork got lost in the mail, Susan and Kim helped keep us calm and on track. I can't recommend them enough, truly. They work quickly, efficiently, and are one of the more reasonably-priced providers in NC. They were such a blessing to us throughout our adoption journey.
