Madison Adoption Associates (“MAA”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency and earned full Hague Accreditation in November 2008. We work with families throughout the United States to place children for adoption. We are also licensed to perform home studies and post placements in Delaware, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Our agency began with a mother’s love and desire to raise an adoptive family. Today, although we still operate as a smaller agency, our efforts over the last 30 years have resulted in more than 1000 children knowing the joy of belonging to a loving family. Madison Adoption Associates is committed to our purpose of helping as many children as possible who need a home and hope for the future. Requirements to become a foster parent

You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Illinois. To become a foster parent, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Attend foster parent orientation
  • Pass a background check
  • Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
  • Complete the Home Study
  • Provide at least three references
  • Clear a physical exam
  • Maintain financial stability

Foster families must be able to provide a safe and comfortable home for a child. You must provide room for the child to have a bed and enough space for personal belongings.

Foster parents do not need to be married or have a partner. However, if married, couples must show a stable marriage of at least one year before they can foster a child in Illinois.

Foster parents need to meet a child's basic care needs, such as providing meals and clothing. Foster families must also support a foster child's education and assist them in developing social skills.

Contact the DCFS or a local licensed child-placing agency to learn more or begin the fostering approval process.

We stumbled upon Madison because we were introduced to our son through an advocacy post. We followed to whichever agency presently held his file. This could have been disaster ... especially since we live in Michigan, not near Madison at all! HOWEVER, our experience was wonderful. We were well supported throughout the process, our questions were answered quickly. Each step and phase (all the way through post adoption reporting) was clear and proceeded as anticipated. Adoption comes with lots of challenges. Fact. Madison took away the parts of the PROCESS that might steer people away from International Adoption.

My wife and I adopted 2 girls from Columbia. Found the staff at Madison to be very knowledgeable about the process. They are always available for answers to questions.

We have worked with Madison to adopt three sons between 2014-2018. We have been very pleased with their honesty and services.
