Necco Foster Care, INC.
Founded in 1996 as a provider of in-home therapeutic foster care, Necco has grown into a multi-state child welfare organization offering a broad array of services. Each of these service lines employs the most innovative programs and treatment approaches designed to equip children with the tools they need to live fulfilling, purpose-driven lives.
Necco started as a foster care agency, and it’s where our roots grow deepest. Since 1996 we’ve been recruiting and training a network of foster parents who provide safe, stable and loving homes to children in need. We support our parents with on-going training, 24/7 on-call availability, financial reimbursement, counseling services and professional support staff. By becoming a foster parent you are positively impacting these children at an exceptionally fragile point in their lives, and you are creating a future filled with hope and promise. We are purpose-driven, and that purpose is to lift children out of an impossible situation and into a world filled with hope. Our purpose is to not only change their circumstances but their journey. This change requires a sense of safety, stability, and a strong support network that can only come from caring adults

Requirements to become a foster parent
The DHS assists foster families with placement and ensures the child adjusts well to their new environment. Whether you have years of parenting experience or are relatively new to the idea, they have many support options for families. You can find plenty of information on the DHS/DFCS website or call them for more assistance.
Your local licensed child placement agency also places children in the foster system with carefully matched parents. Although foster care is temporary, it's crucial to find the right fit. That's why parents get a say in age range and gender.
There are also many state support groups for foster families that provide educational resources, services, and more. Connecting with these organizations and adding to your personal support network will be invaluable.
One of the best ways to become a better parent, whether you plan on fostering a child short-term or adopting, is to read as much as you can about Georgia's foster system. For instance, recently proposed bills would help to streamline parts of the state's foster care placement system.
You can find plenty of information available online for free as well. Blogs, podcasts, and videos are all incredibly useful ways to obtain new information about fostering.

Wanted to attend classes and was pushed aside and never followed up with. Contacted agency on two separate times to no avail. Yet there are signs everywhere asking for foster parents. Very disappointing.

Horrible experience and the worst staff is Cierra. Never get her as a life coach. If you are just entering necco Cierra Gordon is the worst life coach there is and everyone knows that🥱. Have a great day you guys

My husband and I have spent nearly 2 years trying to get approval through this company. We constantly pushed to get updates on our status and find out what else needed to be done to get approved - often going weeks and months without any update or calls back.
They excused the longevity of the process on merging with another fostering firm (Benchmark) and for being understaffed. But we often received inconsistent information from one person to the next.
After raising alarm over the ridiculousness of the process, they "rejected" our application based on our "unwillingness to comply" with foster guidelines. Once I showed proof in a written email, where we stated we were more than willing to comply, they reopened our application and we attempted to proceed with the process.
In hindsight, I should have stopped there and saved myself the heartache of working with this company in hopes of helping children. They have again rejected us based on "inconsistencies" in paperwork but will not divulge specifics on what those inconsistencies are.
Compassionate parent beware! Fostering, no doubt, will be a difficult endeavor - but trying to become approved to foster should not be this hard! This company will collect ALL of your personal, legal, financial information - spend way too long processing paperwork - and will not communicate with your clearly (or some, professionally) on what's going on.
We are very sad and disappointed in NECCO. If you do happen to interact with them, please find out how much money they make on "recruiting parents" and not matching desiring parents with children in need.
