Heart of Adoptions, Inc.
At Heart of Adoptions Inc., our primary mission is to create families through adoption. However, we take this one step further by ensuring that all our clients: expectant parents, their children, and hopeful adoptive families, are treated as individuals with unique needs, situations, and emotions. We believe in flexibility, respect, and confidentiality.
In order to complete this mission we believe in employing a staff that is passionate about all aspects of adoption. From our office manager greeting everyone entering the front door, to the case managers who work so closely with birth mothers to help with prenatal care and other support needs, to the attorney conducting everything from consents to finalization, you will be surrounded with a support staff of dedicated professionals who believe in dignity and respect, regardless of the situation or personal choices. We strive to make every adoption experience the best it can be.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Many adults are eligible to become foster parents in their state but do not always realize it. Each state in the U.S. has regulations and requirements for licensing foster parents. Florida does not require parents to own a large home or quit their jobs and become stay-at-home parents. Florida foster parents must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Prove good health and ability to care for a child
- Maintain a stable income
- Pass a background screening
- Finish 30 hours of foster parent training
- Complete a Home Study
The required training course is free to aspiring foster parents. It helps parents learn how to foster children and become licensed to provide foster care in Florida.

We had the PLEASURE of adopting our baby girl through Heart of Adoptions in Merritt Island, FL! The adoption journey was new to us, as this is our first child. Ever since we found out we had been chosen by a birth mother, and matched, Heart of Adoptions held our hand and guided us every step of the way. Amy Dean and Amy Nickerson (our caseworkers) were WONDERFUL to work with and made this journey seamless and comfortable for us. They were/are available for whatever we need and both of these women truly have their heart and passion in this work that they do! I cannot recommend Heart of Adoptions enough! They are truly the best, and should we choose to adopt again in the future, we will absolutely hope to use them again!

We were recommended to Heart of Adoptions by our local agency here in MA. We initially worked with Meredith Shepard at the Tampa office. Once we were matched with an expectant mother, we then started working with Amy Dean and Amy Nickerson at the Merritt Island office.
There was an immediate connection with both Amys which helped us navigate the process. They were always available to answer our calls, emails and texts including weekends. Once we were in Florida for the placement, they both were there for every step. Amy Nickerson walked us through what to expect at the hospital and answered our many questions. When it was time to be discharged from the hospital Amy Dean made sure our goodbyes (which were really "see you later's") with our son's mother didn't last for hours while we all cried.
Our experience with Heart of Adoptions was overwhelming positive. We will be forever grateful to them for connecting us with our son’s mother and helping us become dads.
