Requirements to become a foster parent

You must meet minimum requirements to provide foster care for children in Colorado. Foster parents for children and families must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Maintain sufficient income to support a family
  • Have physical and mental capability to care for children and youth
  • Pass a child abuse background and criminal background check
  • Work with a treatment team and undergo future training
  • Complete a Home Study

Prospective foster families can contact a Colorado child placement agency or your local Department of Human Services. Social workers in these child welfare agencies will provide information about Colorado's child welfare system, foster care, and the adoption process.

Social workers recommended that other adults and children in your home agree to provide long-term home care, too. If everyone is ready to welcome a new child, your local agency will help your home become an approved foster home.

Terrible and abusive staff, Poor record keeping and unsafe medication handling. They also lost my transcripts and any proof of me graduating? Wildly unprofessional

I was in Chins Up in 1990-1992. They made a huge positive impact on my life!! Prayers for all the youth in bad situations, as I once was. 🙏💖

Theos company was created on the basis of helping young men stay out of trouble, unfortunately there’s many staff that do not uphold what this company stands for. The building maintenance is extremely dangerous, including broken doors and windows. I’ve witnessed multiple staff put boys in illegal Corrections Officer restraints. The worst part is that there is no support from higher ups. Very few staff members genuinely care about the boots in this facility, and the ones that do care are either worked way too much, or treated poorly by upper management. If you’re looking for employment, look elsewhere.

It is the most unorganized corporation. The director got fired as she should have as she lied on her resume and was reading coworkers emails with out there consent. Lying to foster family's. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY
