Tapestry Family Services
We like to say we’re Tapestry and we are “cut from a different cloth”. We aren’t your typical adoption agency. We are a ministry.
We aren’t just “faith based”. Our faith is lived out in every interaction we have with you as an expectant mom. You will feel that difference from the first phone call or text. We want you to know you have the support of a counselor and a mentor for as long as you need them. We care about you, not just your baby. We want you to be in a better place after working with us in all areas of your life. You may need support to leave an abusive relationship, find a place to live or support with rent and utilities. Perhaps, you are able to move and start again. It’s your journey, but we will walk with you.
Our goals with our families are different too. Adoption is a big money business. That’s not who we are. We work with area churches to provide programs to help families adopt without mortgaging their homes or going into severe debt. Our adoptions are less than 1/3 the cost of the big agencies. No one talks about this part of adoption, but we do. We serve our expectant moms with the same honor and respect that we treat our adoptive parents. You are all so very important. You’ll feel that difference after your first phone call. We promise…no pressure, no judgement, honest answers.

Requirements to become a foster parent
Foster parents in Indiana have access to a variety of services and support. These services include:
Support Payments
As a foster parent, you will receive a daily payment from DCS to help cover the costs of caring for a foster child. The amount varies depending on the age and needs of the child, but payments start at $18.88/day.
Foster parents are also eligible for an initial clothing expense payment of up to $200.00 and an Annual Personal Allowance of up to $300.00 per child per year. This payment becomes available when the child has been in placement for at least eight days.
Additionally, DCS provides a Special Occasion Allowance of up to $50.00 on
child’s birthday and during the December holidays.
Medical and Dental Coverage
In Indiana, children in foster care are entitled to receive Medicaid coverage for their medical and dental needs.
However, it is the responsibility of the foster parents to schedule and attend all medical and dental appointments for the child. This means that foster parents must make sure that the child receives proper medical care and attends all necessary appointments to maintain their health and well-being.
Training and Support Groups
Foster parents have access to ongoing training and support groups to help them navigate the challenges of fostering. Support groups provide a space for foster parents to connect with others who understand the unique challenges of fostering.
Indiana Foster Care Statistics and Outcomes
Understanding the statistics and outcomes of foster care in Indiana can help you better understand the need for foster parents in the state.
As of 2021, there were over 13,000 children in foster care in Indiana. However, there are only 6,200 licensed foster parents. Most children in Indiana foster care are between ages 8 and 16. On average, they stayed an average of 14.3 months in foster care.
Sadly, children who exit foster care have a higher likelihood of experiencing homelessness, unemployment, and incarceration than their peers who did not experience foster care.
As a foster parent, you can help break this cycle. You could inspire troubled child to excel and reach their true potential.

I am very pleased with the services provided during our adoption journey. They are very trustworthy and thorough. They made us feel like family yet were very professional. Adoption can be quite the roller-coaster ride but Vicki and Andrea were with us every step of the way. Even after dealing with two other large adoption agencies in Indianapolis, I would HIGHLY recommend Tapestry hands down!

We are thoroughly impressed with Tapestry Family Services. We had a great experience with having our home study completed through Tapestry. As we entered the adoption process, we researched and reached out to a lot of different agencies for our home study. We desired to have an agency that was truly faith based, and didn't tag on the title in order to sound good. It was important for the agency to be honest and straight forward about their fees and process. We can confidently say that Tapestry exceeded our expectations.
Andrea made the process very understandable and as easy as possible. She was quick to respond to every question. Vicki completed our home study interview. She is incredibly perceptive and straightforward. She has a deep desire to see children adopted into families that will provide a safe, loving, and morally strong home.
We would recommend Tapestry Family Services to anyone that plans to pursue adoption. We would, without a doubt, use them again.

Every time I call the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I’m not afraid to call and get a helpful voice through this agency. I do wish, though there were more resources and support for adoptees, as I was adopted.

We did our home study through Tapestry. The team was on top of their service by sending us the checklist, answering questions, and providing us other very helpful information. We felt very comfortable and confident with their service.
